Sounds awesome, what is it?

You know when you don’t want to eat an entire cake, you just want a bite? It’s the same with social media and technology- sometimes you just want a bite. You just want to know how to write a social media press release without going through a day long course, you just want to make sure the colors you’re using on your blog are effective or you simply need to know how to communicate on Twitter.

We’re launching what we call FreeEvents, said “free-vents.” You can even say it with a southern accent if you want (I will!). We’ll gather at coffeehouses, parks, libraries (or wherever) across the nation and talk about all things social media and technology. Sometimes it will be one speaker who talks for 10 minutes then opens it up to an hour of q&a while other times it will be a panel of specialists on their given topic that interact with those in attendance, and at all times it will reek of awesomeness.

Is it free? Yes, as free as a bird.

It will ALWAYS be free, it’s not a conference and it’s not a club. Whoever is interested in the topic of the week (or month depending on the city) can come for free and because it’s a non-sponsored event, we ask everyone to buy a lunch or drink at the venue to support local business. It could be a networking opportunity, but more importantly it’s a way for us to collaboratively educate each other on a variety of topics.

Soon, we’ll be announcing which cities will host FreeEvents and the website will launch. If you’re interested in organizing a FreeEvent for your city, I can’t promise riches or fame but I can promise you rainbows and unicorns or at least good times. If you would like to get involved or attend, email us now while we’re in the development stages. This is not a business but a free service and it will rock your socks off (or on if you’re not wearing any right now)!!!
