  • February Twitter Happy Hour – #BATHH

    16 February 2010 February Twitter Happy Hour – #BATHH

Austin's Twitter Happy Hour This month's Twitter Happy Hour was held at The Ginger Man on 3rd Street in downtown Austin and despite the rain, the bouncer (is that the right word to use these days?) said there were nearly 300 people in the door, about 20 of which weren't affiliated with the Twitter Happy Hour. Parking was insane and the rain and cold were very un-Austin, but several hundred people still showed up, proving that although we LOVE the Ginger Man, we've outgrown the venue. Follow everyone that was there with one click! Want to follow everyone that went to the event? Even if you didn't go, no worries, the point is for networking and that can be ...

  • Calling for Volunteers for February Tweetup – [All Spots Filled]

    02 February 2010

Volunteering to help UPDATE: within two minutes of posting, we got tons of volunteers, MAN Austin is generous! Thanks SO MUCH for all of your help, we'll see you at the Tweetup! The February Tweetup is coming up and we need help! I'm awful at manning the sign in table because I float around all hostess-y like, so I'm looking for help in hour blocks. All volunteers have to do is stand at the sign in table, guide people to making their name badges with their Twitter names on them and signing in with their Twitter name.  Hell, we'll buy you a beer for volunteering, so why not? Spots to ...

    31 August 2009

What is Ubiquity Marketing unSummit and why you should go: Organizer Jason Stoddard, founder of Stagira, Inc. has laid it all on the line to organize this event that will bring together Austin leaders from the non-profit, for-profit and governmental sectors to "work as a collective creative force to innovate, exchange, solve functional problems, and thrive." • Newest Invitation Manager and My New Favorite

    29 August 2009

Get those people OFFline! I've written frequently over the years advocating inviting your online contacts to join you offline for some face to face time and while there are countless ways to do this, there are very few ways to manage these events online. For tweetups, I use Twtvite.com (click here for a sample invitation) and for professional events, I use Eventbrite.com (click here for a sample invitation). What's important to me regardless of the site I use is the following: Ability to promote and gather RSVPs from Twitter and Facebook. Ability to edit the invitation should details change. Control over HTML so I can insert our logo or ...

  • Austin Tweetup- August

    15 August 2009

What's a Tweetup? A tweetup is a free happy hour open to anyone and broadcast via Twitter. It's a very organic event and it started off with a few of us having dinner and has evolved into a full blown scene. About 100 people showed up this Thursday at Iron Cactus in the Arboretum (who took great care of us by the way, you should host YOUR next event there), here's the RSVP list. If you want to comment on the pictures, tell your friends how stupid or gorgeous they look, you can do so over on Facebook. ...

  • Linux Against Poverty Install Fest

    05 August 2009

Linux Install Fest Last weekend, we volunteered at Geek Austin's Linux Against Poverty Install Fest which donated over 200 computers to children in need. Led by Lynn Bender, the festival was a great success with so many computers being repaired or if new, simply cleaned up and all units were installed with the easy to use Linux operating system so local children in need don't have to miss the bus to stay behind to do their homework or walk long distances to the local library to do required school work. This is an ongoing initiative, so if you have a laptop or ...
